About the Authors

Lori Kinsey is the founder and continued education director of Red Lotus Life, she strives to lead from a place of integrity that enables clients to expand into their most authentic self. Her passion for this work is revealed in every workshop and retreat. She has the ability to hold strong empathy and safe space for people, because of the work she has done in the areas of domestic violence and human trafficking. As a domestic abuse survivor, her goal is to help others heal from a place of compassion and trust. She has experience working with many individuals who have experienced different areas of trauma. She is truly a dynamic and inspiring speaker.

Sara Hoffman is an integrity driven coach and mentor dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence throughout the healing process. A professional recognized by the Spiral Institute and peers, as well as serving as an integral proponent, while building a heart centered supportive community. Passionate instructor and educator with expertise in compassionate and non-violent communication, addiction, and family trauma. Extensive knowledge in the areas of psychology, human anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, kinesiology and nervous system regulation. Proven skill sets in numerous areas including  ethics, team building, research, healthcare, business, administration, marketing and course/content creation, with the ability to operate in highly diverse populations and emergency situations.

Chapter 1:   The Role of Embodied Communication in Human Connection

Reflecting on the connection between self-trust and effective interpersonal communication and inviting participants to consider how a lack of inner confidence can interfere with one’s ability to set healthy boundaries, articulate needs, or engage in meaningful connection without guilt or self-doubt.

Chapter 2:   Self-Trust as a Component in Mental and Emotional Well-Being

Understanding common challenges, such as the guilt associated with setting boundaries or the uncertainty in expressing personal needs that often stem from a lack of internal trust. 

Chapter 3:   The Intersection Between Self-Trust, Emotional Regulation, and Digital-Era Communication Habits

Exploring how cultivating trust in oneself directly enhances confidence, clarity in decision-making, and boundary-setting - key competencies in both personal well-being and therapeutic practice.

Chapter 4:   Practical, Trauma-Informed Strategies for Cultivating Self-Trust

Assess and list essential components of emotional resilience, client empowerment, and ethical self-awareness in clinical practice. The strategies outlined will promote both personal growth and transferable skills that can be modeled and taught in therapeutic settings.

Chapter 5:   The Role of Boundary-Setting in Mental, Emotional, and Relational Well-Being

Understanding the importance of identifying, particularly in trauma-informed and client-centered practices, the internal and external processes involved in establishing safe, sustainable boundaries.

Chapter 6:   Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as a Framework for Emotionally Intelligent, Respectful, and Compassionate Interactions

Exploring the foundational framework, grounded in principles of trauma-informed care and client-centered practice, NVC provides clinicians and clients alike with tools for navigating conflict, setting boundaries, and deepening connection without harm or coercion. 

Chapter 7:   The Importance of Self-Awareness and Internal Regulation in Healthy Interpersonal Dynamics

Access and list practical family-centered strategies, especially in the context of boundary-setting and Nonviolent Communication (NVC), that tune internal landscapes and enhance clarity, emotional resilience, and authentic self-expression.

Chapter 8:   Integrating Trust-building and Boundary-Setting Within a Trauma-Informed Framework

Understanding where boundary-setting feels challenging and bridging inner awareness with outer action, enhancing relational integrity and therapeutic presence in both personal and clinical settings.

Chapter 9:   Practical Application of Boundary-Setting and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Strategies

Access and list practical, family-centered strategies and how tailoring these approaches supports trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive practices.

Chapter 10:   The Impact of Self-trust and Boundary-Setting

Understanding how these practices have contributed to positive outcomes such as enhanced clarity in relationships, improved emotional well-being, and greater self-agency.
